Fire Detection & Alarm Systems
From initial design through to commissioning and ongoing maintenance, we deliver BS 5839-1 compliant fire detection and alarm systems for all premises types across Essex, London, Hertfordshire, Kent and Suffolk. Every system is designed to suit your specific occupancy and risk profile.
BS 5839-1 is the British Standard governing the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of fire detection and fire alarm systems in non-domestic premises. Compliance is expected by insurers, enforcing authorities, and building control — and is referenced directly by approved documents in building regulations. All our systems are designed, installed, and certificated to meet this standard.
The Right System for Your Building
Category L — Life Protection
Designed to protect the occupants of a building. L1 provides the highest level of protection with detectors throughout all areas. L2 through L5 offer targeted protection of specified escape routes and areas.
Category P — Property Protection
Designed to provide early warning to protect the building and its contents. P1 covers all accessible areas; P2 covers defined higher-risk areas such as plant rooms or high-value storage.
Category M — Manual Systems
Manual call point-only systems where automatic detection is not required. Typically used in lower-risk premises or as part of a broader life safety strategy.
Addressable Systems
Each device has a unique address, enabling rapid fault or alarm identification. The preferred choice for larger or more complex buildings where precise zone information is critical.
Conventional Systems
A cost-effective solution for smaller premises. Devices are wired in zones, providing an alarm indication by zone rather than individual device.
Wireless Systems
Radio-linked devices remove the need for disruptive cable runs. Ideal for listed buildings, phased installation, or temporary detection requirements.
Design, Install & Maintain
System Design
We survey your premises and produce a detailed design to BS 5839-1, selecting the appropriate system category, detector types, and siting to maximise coverage and minimise false alarms.
Installation
Our engineers carry out a clean, professional installation with minimal disruption. All cabling routes, device positions and battery backups are installed to specification.
Commissioning
Every device is individually tested and the system is commissioned in accordance with BS 5839-1 section 5. We provide full commissioning certificates and as-fitted drawings.
Maintenance
Servicing contracts to BS 5839-1 section 6, including 6-monthly engineer visits, and weekly and monthly user testing guidance.
